THE EARLY DAYS
Established in August 2010, ASM Solar and Electrical started out as a family owned and operated electrical and solar installation business. Solar companies in these very early days of the solar boom in Australia would contract our team to install solar systems that they had sold to end customers. We installed everything from 1kw systems using 160w Suntech panels and 1kw Sunny Boy SMA inverters to 7kw systems using Suntech poly 200w panels and Tri Power SMA inverters. These days proved to be testing for our team as the industry was in its early stages and everyone was still learning. Survival in these first few years meant who ever lasted would come out industry as gurus. ASM’s install team consisting of a father, son and an apprentice proved to be the go to team for installations by many early solar companies. Many of these companies still contract our installation services until this very day – a testimony to our internal install team’s fantastic workmanship.

As time progressed and our install numbers grew, some panels had faults and inverters broke down. This allowed us to determine through experience the following:

We finally made the decision to move from a sub-contracting based business into a contracting based business. One of the major reasons why we made this move was we found that the majority of solar companies we worked for were not helping customers chase up warranty claims after they had installed their systems. This was because either the companies had gone broke or they just did not care about their customers after the systems had been installed and payed for. We would receive so many phone calls from dis-satisfied customers complaining about faulty panels and faulty inverters telling us they could not get a hold of the people who sold them their system. We decided that we, as the installers, should provide a solution for customers that would keep them secure from cowboy solar companies that are only good for tarnishing the reputation of the solar industry. Our terms and conditions are in line with the Clean Energy Council Code of Conduct. This means we will personally guarantee any product installed by us, meaning should the manufacturer go out of business we will replace your product with a product of equal or greater value free of charge. Also, we will give you a performance estimate for your solar system and will guarantee it. Meaning if your system is not working to the standards we estimate it should be, we will provide you with financial compensation of the difference for the life of the STC period.

Im sure you have all read about solar companies going broke and shuting down. ASM Solar and Electrical is now in its tenth year of operations and things could never be better. With over 1,000 residential installations to our name and counting, we plan to be here for many more decades by adapting and growing with solar power and other renewable technologies.
